I took a zero day today to wait out the snow. I woke up to my tent sagging a little under a layer of snow and ice. I was plenty warm in my sleeping bag though, but didn’t sleep great since I was camped on a slope with no flatter spots available in the campground.
I did all of my town chores today and prepared for the next stretch of trail. I’ll head back to where I left off tomorrow and will see how far I can make it across San Jacinto, but I will likely bail and hike around it.

I’m glad to see you are doing so well, even with the occasional challenges. I too loved the desert plants and took so many photos. Burgers are such a special treat, and no, a beer before 11 is not a problem on trail. You drink ‘em when you got em! I think somewhere in my photo history I have a photo of my watch, documenting that I was having a beer at 9:45am. Happy trails!
