Pacific Crest Trail Day 108 Ashland

It’s illegal to hitch on a limited access road, but that doesn’t mean you can’t hitch just before it becomes limited access. Since there were two of us, Honeybun and I set up on each side of the road to catch traffic from both ways turning onto the freeway.

After 10 minutes, a car stopped and told Honeybun they could give us a ride for some breakfast money. We had $13 cash between us, and that was enough. They appeared to be living in their car so they had to do some rearranging, but the driver seemed fine, so we hopped in.

As we were flying down the highway, the passenger who had been mostly out of it pulled out a pipe and smoked some meth. Bold, and we were happily just a couple miles from our exit and escaped from the car with no issues.

Then began a big day of chores. We had 8 different stops to make in town to get and do everything we needed. There are some mail drop resupplies coming up, so Honeybun had to arrange those while my packages were being put together and shipped from home by my girlfriend Kate.

We ran around town the entire day, and even caught a few Ubers to speed up the process, but in the end we got everything done and we met at a sushi restaurant to splurge on some food that was as far from hiker chow as possible, apart from the rice.

It was a very busy day, but great to get everything done and be ready for the next few hundred miles of trail. We have a plan for the entirety of Oregon now, though there is some flexibility and changes we could make if needed.
