Day 134

Start: Snoqualmie Pass

Finish: Snoqualmie Pass

Daily Mileage: 0

PCT Mile: 2395.8

Zero days are never the relaxing days that can be portrayed by vloggers. We got in late yesterday, and ran around today resupplying for the rest of the trail and sending off more boxes.

I finally met a scale for the first time since I started the Sierra months ago, and I have lost 33 pounds so far on this hike. I was a bit overweight before the trip, but now I’m back to my ideal weight, though I can see I have also lost muscle mass.

A huge monkey wrench was delivered halfway through the day when we realized the closure for the Pioneer Fire appeared to cut off all means of traveling through North Cascades. We studied it for a while and there just aren’t on or off trail options. We sent a new resupply box on to Stevens Pass in case we can find an alternative in the mean time, but I’m not sure what we will do to finish up the trail. Most hikers are skipping around, but we have only skipped once so far this trail, so it is something we wanted to avoid if there were legal alternatives.

Since we were at my girlfriend’s place, we smoked some ribs for dinner and I had only my second home cooked meal of the entire trail. It is so hard to get real food out here, and it is something I am sorely missing.

It was an incredibly busy day, and I didn’t get done everything I wanted to. Such is the life of a thru-hiker. Always on the move.
