Kate lives a ways from me, so we got up early and she drove us to my place to get my car for our dash down to NorCal. I had left it on jackstands with the wheels off, the battery on a trickle charger, and stabilizer in the fuel tank.<\/p><p>Kate dropped us and had to run for commitments she had. I managed to get the car started after cleaning corrosion off the battery terminals, we got the car back on the ground, and after letting it run for a few minutes after its 5 months layup, we left straight away on a Google suggested 9 hour drive down I-5 to get back to California.<\/p><p>These past few days in particular have been very busy with long hours of hiking and not enough sleep, so I was already running on fumes, but I wanted to finish and this stretch of trail was the only thing standing in my way.<\/p><p>The drive was long and had traffic and construction, but we made it down and trail angel Vicki had graciously volunteered to host us for the night in her off-grid log cabin, feed us dinner, and drive us from Seiad Valley to Etna the next day. She and her husband Andy were absolutely fantastic and I would have loved to spend more time at their place, but time was short.
