Though there was just some snow in the Sierra, it has been melting well and I\u2019m feeling comfortable as I can be with how snow conditions will be when we arrive in mid-May. However, we are still looking to not hurry there, so we are dumping time wherever we can.<\/p><p>It was an easy choice to stay at Serenity\u2019s Oasis a second night since it was inexpensive and Farmer John and Andrea are great and very helpful. They just want to help the hikers and aren\u2019t really making much out of the arrangement especially considering their time. One of the things I like about the trail is that it brings out the good in many people, and it is an enjoyable atmosphere to be in.<\/p><p>I mailed ahead all of my snow gear and ice axe since I won\u2019t need it for the next ~250 miles. Will save me a couple pounds at least, but I will miss my killer cathole digger (ice axe).<\/p><p>I also finally found a scale and have lost 9 pounds in the past 34 days. That\u2019s pretty good considering I wasn\u2019t eating my full food ration for most of the trip so far.
